The Big Idea

Sarah Ban Breathnach takes you in a journey to your past lives - as a child, as a teenager, as a young adult. She encourages you to become archaeologists of yourself for the moment. Dig up the past and rediscover your dreams, your hopes, your earliest ambitions, your loves and even your fears.

This book recognizes every individual's need to fill that empty void in his life. Everyone, regardless of whatever state of material fulfillment he is currently in, has this quest to find that something more in his life. Through some enriching activities tucked at the end of each chapter in this book, you will be guided towards the real path in your journey to find your authentic self.

PART 1: OUR AUTHENTIC LIVES

A person's life is defined by several phases. Inevitably, every individual should have in his lifetime gone through all these stages: starting over, surviving, settling, stumbling, shattering, sensing, and searching for something more.

Our Authentic Lives

Look around you. Look a lot closer. If you look deeper, you will see that in a wider perspective the human race is subdivided into two subspecies. They can either be the resigned- those who live in quite desperation--, or the exhausted - those who exist in restless agitation. The former sits back and wait for the world to pass him by while the latter is always in the constant search for something more to life.

Happiness vs. Joy

There is a worldwide misconception between joy and happiness. For most people, they are one and the same. But truth is they are not. Happiness is transient while joy can be eternal. Happiness usually is triggered by external events and only masks your fears. Joy, on the other hand, represents the absence of fear and brings you to a state of enlightened reembodiment. You should aim for joy instead of just happiness. How do you reach that state?

The Path of Joy

Count your blessings. Learn to be grateful. This is the first step towards the path of joy. Try to remember and reexamine the dreams, loves and fears of your own past. This will help enrich and transform your life. Try to wash out your fears by looking for the gift in it. Learn and benefit from that gift. You should also realize that reembodiment does not happen overnight. It can be a difficult process sometimes but still it yields good results.
